The Technical Project Manager is a key role within the team, reporting directly to the Managing Director.
The role will take responsibility for managing and delivering key productions and projects. The role is also focused on developing and maintaining key client relationships with the customers of the business.
Contract Type: Full Time
Location: South West London
Roles & Responsibilities:
Act as Project Manager in all areas of delivering a project, including quoting, calculating technical specifications, equipment, crew schedules, power specification, transport requirements, etc. This project handling will be practical, administratively and commercially.
Produce quotations, proposal documents and budgets for a full range of projects and live events, either alongside our business development function or direct with clients.
Negotiate and secure orders for quoted services to drive maximum value for money for clients, combined with profitable and efficient supply by the company.
Provide and coordinate out-of-hours support and advice to active projects and clients across the teams managed.
Monitor project progress and act as a point of contact for clients in the event of any changes or additional requests throughout the project.
Prepare all paperwork and keep job files for each project updated and available for input from other team members.
Prepare project invoices and close job file upon completion of each project.
Keep the MD and company’s systems up to date with all aspects of client contact, project progress and prospective commercial contact, both positive and negative.
Manage any project changes and customer confirmations, collating and reporting all charges to be invoiced.
Attend production and site meetings as required.
Undertake client visits and site visits, as directed and under own initiative.
Act as a primary point of contact on-site in delivering and implementing allocated projects. Oversee equipment and crew on-site and act as a representative of the company to the client.
Research and identify prospective new clients and projects from professional networks and industry sources.
Prepare all paperwork and keep job files for each project updated and available for input from other team members.
Produce Risk Assessments & Method Statements (RAMS) for projects and keep abreast of the company’s H&S Policy and current industry regulations and best practices.
Handle equipment and project enquiries from production clients.
Process client requests and issue quotations/proposals for services efficiently.
Match client and project requirements to available rental stock to maximise profitable delivery and execution on specific projects.
Provide support to the Directors in other aspects of the business’s activity, as required, requested and directed.
Meet with, appraise and select freelance crew and suppliers wishing to provide services to the company.
Keep all work-related information confidential and act in a professional manner at all times, in all work and industry-social situations.
Provide feedback to Directors of any areas of improvement, development or growth of the business identified. Take a role within the team in problem-solving and contribute to team & business improvement.
Ensure that the Company’s policies, rules, procedures and obligations are observed in carrying out the above duties.
Representing the Company:
Act as the primary point of contact for customers, on-site on specific projects. Handle and resolve customer queries and requests and represent the company and on-site team in a proactive, courteous and professional manner.
Assist in demos & marketing projects as requested. Attend trade shows and other industry events as necessary.
Keep abreast of all business opportunities through consistent communication and visits with recognised influencers and decision-makers.
Actively host both potential and existing clients wherever appropriate.
Keep abreast of any technical issues and new products that will enhance our services, rental inventory, and services offered.
Maintain a good level of personal appearance, dress and cleanliness.
Person Spec / Qualities / Qualifications:
Commercially astute. Good understanding of profitability, margin protection, cost control and basic accounting practices.
A proactive, self-motivated individual capable of working on their own initiative in a constantly changing and pressurised environment and fast-developing company.
Ability to manage a situation and effectively deal with both junior and senior colleagues.
Ability to operate at a strategic and practical level, as opposed to simply managing.
Energetic individual, highly motivated, with an enquiring mind and passion for accuracy and excellence.
Excellent commercial and business experience.
Good communication / interpersonal skills.
Ability to multitask and prioritise a demanding workload.
Ability to handle high levels of pressure and critical decision-making.
Good working knowledge of a full range of current lighting, audio, video & rigging equipment and practices.
Strong IT knowledge. Always ahead of and embracing new technologies. Preferably with a working knowledge of Vectorworks
Eloquent. Able to write a proposal and express an idea or concept to a client or industry partner, either written or verbal.
Numerate. Able to use spreadsheets and IT to monitor budgets, profit margins etc.
Knowledge of Health & Safety principles and legislation, preferably backed up by a recognised qualification.
Experience in an asset-based business/asset rental is vital.
Attention to detail and accuracy.
Full driving license, own transport and passport required.
Ability to travel within UK, Europe & internationally, often at short notice.

The Scenic Construction Lead is a key role within the team, reporting directly to the Head of Operations.
The role will take responsibility for organising and maintaining the efficient process of our scenic build elements for events. This will include workshop organisation, stock control, build control and assistance commercially with the quoting process

Act as the lead staff member within our scenic department responsible for the workshop area. This includes managing stock, workflow, cleanliness, and freelance staff employed to construct our scenic event requirements.
Work alongside our business development & project management functions, offering scenic build knowledge at the quotation phase of new projects, ensuring these solutions offer the best value for the client whilst remaining profitable for the company.
