Althorp House
Private Birthday Party
Luminaire were instructed by the Johnny Roxburgh Designs (JRD) team to create the ultimate 40th Birthday Celebration taking place over two nights at Althorp House. Althorp is a grade 1 listed stately home and 13,000 acre estate resident to Earl Spencer in West Northamptonshire. Luminaire were asked to create a custom built dining table, lighting, audio and power for a 2 night birthday celebration.
We created a custom 60ft dining table wrapped in a chocolate gold mirrored acrylic and delivered discreet lighting and audio throughout the first floor dining room. The real challenge came when transforming the stateroom into a nightclub. We worked to conform the design style to the original decoration and grade 1 listing of the room. The team built a bespoke bar, loveseat, stage and dance floor; in accordance with the detailed designs that had been signed off by the JRD team. Luminaire delivered all the lighting and audio for the event and built LED lighting in hexagon shapes throughout the dancefloor that mirrored the ceiling cornicing design - this detail was loved by the client!
For lighting, the exterior of the property was illuminated using warm white lighting while 8 Flambeauxs surrounded the entrance of the courtyard. In the dining room, pinspotting and dabbled lighting was installed along the length of the custom table to light the centrepieces, floral installations and uplight throughout the space. A comprehensive lighting package was installed around the stage we built within the Stateroom to create the feel of a nightclub while embracing the aesthetic of the historic room. Moving heads, strobes and special effects brought the nightclub to life.
The event took place over Friday and Saturday - we gained access to the private home on Thursday and worked tirelessly alongside some incredible event specialists to create the approved designs. We faced obvious challenges working within a Grade 1 listed private home and the team had to be extremely cautious working with priceless furniture and artwork, but it was amazing to work within a space with such regality and surrounded by such an incredible historic setting.
