Hunchman Trust

Luminaire founder, Will, is a Trustee for the Hunchman Trust, built in memory of his three friends and fellow trustee’s father, Hunch who tragically lost his life to suicide in 2010. After the boy’s family and friends provided them with incredible support and enabled them to cope through an extremely difficult period they recognised that not everyone is fortunate enough to have the same support, and so they founded the Hunchman Trust.  

The Hunchman Trust is a grant-giving charity, raising funds through a variety of events advocating the benefit of physical challenges to overcome mental challenges, the trust collaborates with like minded charities and where possible ringfences the funds to be used for the support of families and young people navigating loss.  

Having launched in 2023 with the Hunchman500, 2024 brought fresh challenges and in July 2024 a group of 25 incredible people ran two marathons (52.4 miles) in two days, most of which had never ran a marathon before! A fundraising event took place on Sunday 29th July at Reeds Rugby Club in Weybridge, Luminaire delivered the staging, lighting and audio to create a great atmosphere for the finishing runners and their supporters. 

The challenge and event raised over £33,000 which will be used as grant money to support bereaved individuals with an emphasis on children who have lost someone through suicide. Will and the Hunchman trustees are so grateful to the runners for all their strength and commitment to the cause, the support teams over the two days for their encouragement and of course all those that donated and have continued to support the trust and help make a difference to so many lives.
